Paint booths

The designed solution for the abatement of polluting paint pigments

The choice of the best spray booths to buy first of all depends on the objects that need to be coated. Manufacturers must be given the information on data sheets of coating products in use.

CORAL Engineering offers a full range of spray booths for the treatment of pollutants which are generated during coating operations: the choice of the filtration system for spray booths is either water film spray booths or dry spray booths. In case water-based coatings are used, the most suitable type is dry spray booths, using water film paint booths with solvent-based paints either polyurethane, nitro or polyester.
In dry spray booths, pleated paper and fiberglass filters are used for filtration in order to retain the pollutant, while in wet spray booths the action of a water film flowing on a vertical panel and capturing paint particles is exploited.  A further air filtration with rubber coconut fiber filters is then carried out on this kind of booths.

For both versions of spray booths, it’s also possible to combine an active carbon post-filtration to the air intake system to reduce the solvent odor. Through the centrifugal fan mounted on the roof of the spray booth, a vacuum which determines the forced circulation of an airflow through the filters is created. This flow conveys the paint particles suspended in the air to the filters without any dispersion in the environment.
The first stage of filtration captures the larger particle size paint pigments, while the second stage made of fiberglass blocks the finer ones; the air purified from solid pigments is expelled from the centrifugal fan. It’s important that extraction systems in spray painting environments are localized both in correspondence of the areas of application of the paint, especially in the case of spray paints and in correspondence of the areas where the drying of the varnish is carried out, since, particularly in case of paints that use volatile thinners, the drying process may cause the evaporation of these solvents and consequently the exposure of workers.
